At Focus Eyecare, we understand how important your child's eyesight is to their growth and development. We take a personalized, child-friendly approach to eye care, combining the latest technology and testing methods in a fun, welcoming environment. While visual screenings in school are important, they donʼt replace a full eye exam by a qualified optometrist.
We conduct all necessary tests to ensure your child's vision and eye health are at their best, including screening for Amblyopia (Lazy Eye). Detecting amblyopia early is especially important to ensure proper development of the eyes. Our optometrist makes the experience enjoyable, and in some cases, we may use eye drops to get more accurate results. These drops make the pupils larger, providing a clearer view of the eye and ensuring the most accurate prescription.
It can be hard to tell if your child has a vision problem, which is why regular eye tests are so important. Look out for these signs:
Complaints of headaches or tired eyes after school
Straining their eyes or tilting their head to see better
Frequent eye rubbing or excessively watery eyes
Sitting too close to the TV or holding objects close to their face
Being unusually clumsy or having poor hand-eye coordination
Complaints of blurred or double vision
Closing one eye or squinting to see better
Avoiding near concentration tasks, like reading or writing
Children's eye exams are FREE under the NHS for those under 16 and up to age 18 for those in full-time education.
If your child needs glasses or contact lenses, we'll ensure the process is comfortable and stress-free. We offer a wide range of stylish, durable glasses that fit well and look great on all face shapes and sizes.
Your child's vision is important, and at Focus Eyecare, we're here to help them see the world clearly and confidently!
Myopia, also known as nearsightedness, is a common vision condition where distant objects appear blurry while close-up objects can be seen clearly. It typically begins in childhood and often progresses as the child grows. In recent years, myopia has been increasing at an alarming rate worldwide, partly due to increased screen time and less time spent outdoors.
Managing myopia is crucial because high levels of myopia can lead to serious eye health issues later in life, such as:
Increased risk of
retinal detachment
Glaucoma
Cataracts
Macular degeneration
By slowing down the progression of myopia in children, we can help reduce these risks and ensure better long-term eye health.
At Focus Eyecare, we offer personalized myopia management plans tailored to each childʼs needs. These plans include optical vision correction glasses or contact lenses. Our team will work closely with you to find the best approach for maintaining your childʼs vision health.
